Weekly Grade Reports
While e-learning is continuing we want to continue to partner with each student and parent. Each Friday grades will be updated and any student earning a D or an F will be emailed a current grade report. Grades in Sycamore are typically updated by teachers on Friday's. Continue to use Sycamore as a way to monitor grades. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions about assignments or grades. Mrs. Parr and I are available to help you navigate this process as well. Feel free to email or call us with any questions.

2020 New Graduation Requirements
2020 Graduating Cohort - This document is meant to clarify expectations and provide flexibility for school corporations as it relates to students in the 2020 graduation cohort. Under this approved flexibility, a school corporation may issue an Indiana diploma to a student who: 1.Has met all of the course and credit requirements for the specific diploma designation based on a combination of high school credits earned prior to and the courses in which a student was enrolled as of March 19, 2020, when the Governor issued the statewide school closure order; and 2.Meets any virtual or remote learning participation requirements established by the governing body of the local school corporation in response to the statewide school closure order issued by the Governor; and 3.Meets any additional graduation requirements established by the governing body of the local school corporation pursuant to IC 20-32-4-1.5(3) prior to the school closure order issued by the Governor. Over the next week Mrs. Parr & Mrs. Kellogg will be in contact with you and your senior regarding their graduation and diploma status. If you have any questions please let me know. Additional details related to the requirements for a Core 40, Core 40 with Academic Honors, Core 40 with Technical Honors, and General diploma are included later in this memo. Seniors & parents Here is a PDF from the Indiana Department of Education explaining the update.

State Testing-AP/SAT/ACT Testing Updates
All state testing has been cancelled for the reminder of the 2019-2020 school year. Any student enrolled in an AP course will be taking their AP course online at home. AP Computer Science will not have an exam, only an end of course project due by May 26th. An additional email will be coming to you soon if you are enrolled in an AP course. See AP updates here https://apstudents.collegeboard.org/coronavirus-updates. The following is a link giving updates from the College Board regarding the SAT. My goal is to offer the SAT school day this fall for everyone wanting to take the SAT. There is still discussion on whether or not the June SAT will be cancelled or not. For those of you that signed up for the April SAT school day Mrs. Huber will be reimbursing you in the next two weeks. A check will be mailed out to you with your SAT refund. https://pages.collegeboard.org/collegeboard-covid-19-updates. The ACT has several resources to help students from home to prepare to take the ACT in the future. Check out their link here https://www.act.org/content/act/en/covid19.html. If you have any additional questions please let me know.

High School Scheduling for 2020-2021 School Year
All current 9th-11th grade students have had their scheduling meeting with me. Please remember no schedule changes can be made after August 1st. An email will be sent this summer when schedules are up in Sycamore and ready to be viewed. Current 8th graders if you missed your scheduling meeting with me, don't worry it's not too late! I will be reaching out to you this week to set up a Google Meet.

Naviance: Career Testing Program 6th-12th Grade
All 9th-12th grade students have been given their login information for their Naviance account. If you have misplaced your information please let me know and I can re-set your account for you. Since we will not be returning to school I will send all 6th-8th grade students an email over the next week that gives them the Naviance website and their own login information with instructions on how to create a Naviance account. Each student has been assigned career tests to take in their Naviance Account. These inventories are a great way too help you discover your talents and interests!

Victory Christian Academy admits students of any race, color, nationality, and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to VCA students. We do not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, color, national or ethnic origin in the administration of our educational policies, admissions procedures, and scholarship awards, athletic and other school administered programs. We do, however, reserve the right to deny admission or employment to any individual who cannot benefit from enrollment based on past academic achievement, disqualifying handicap, or whose personal lifestyle is not in harmony with the Holy Bible, and VCA’ s stated philosophy and purpose. VCA’s biblical role is to work in conjunction with the home to mold students to be Christ like. Of necessity, this involves the school’s understanding and belief of what qualities or characteristics exemplify a Christ-like life according to Scripture. The school reserves the right, within its sole discretion, to refuse admission of an applicant or to discontinue enrollment of a student if the atmosphere or the conduct within a particular home or the activities of the student are counter to or are in direct opposition to the biblical lifestyle taught in the Bible. This includes, but is not necessarily limited to, participating in, supporting, or condoning sexual immorality, homosexual/lesbian or bisexual activity, promoting such practices and asserting that any philosophy other than God alone is the determiner of gender; and/or that marriage is between anything other than one man and one woman. VCA will love and pray for families with these struggles but we must stand firm in declaring that Scripture is truth and thus it would not make a good fit for students and/or families that are unable to support the moral principles of the school as taken from Scripture. (See Leviticus 20:13 and Romans 1:27)
